Economic Indicators
MarketGrader.com’s economic analysis system tracks a series of monetary and market momentum indicators that generate an overall signal built for stock market investors. The three monetary indicators track changes and changes and trends in the federal funds rate, the prime rate, bank reserve requirements and monthly levels of U.S. consumer debt (which in turn affect interest rates). The three momentum indicators track changes in market breadth (stocks that advance versus those that decline), overall trading volumes and changes to the major U.S. indexes over specific periods of time. All indicators receive an individual grade of positive (+), neutral (=) or negative (-). The combination of all six indicators generates a final score between zero and twelve, each corresponding to one of five final overall economic conditions “signals. The text throughout the page explains the rating for each of the indicators as well as MarketGrader’s overall economic conditions rating and its impact on the U.S. stock market.
